Keep it short and sweet

Have you received a phone call where a certain product or service is being marketed? At first, you feel good to be considered a potential client. But once you decide to turn the offer down, the telemarketer does his tactics to keep you on the phone until you say yes. This turns the potential customer off, and the next telemarketing calls will no longer be entertained.
For telemarketers, keep your spiel short, possibly not exceeding one minute. This information may be supplemented by a brochure sent through fax, email or by snail mail. Customers usually pay more attention to brochures, as they read the items during their free time, when their minds are most relaxed. Deciding to sign up for a service over the phone usually result to customers canceling the contract in a few days or weeks.
